The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period between May 3 to May 9. Some dates earlier than the current period took place at that date and reported after the fact.

Chestnut Hill

May 3 Theft from vehicle, 100 block of E. Hartwell Lane. Owner of van reported more than $2,500 worth of tools were stolen from his vehicle. Ring security camera captured footage of a possible suspect in a black car at 5:10 a.m. Detectives at the scene were able to produce two fingerprints.   

May 5 Retail Theft at Staples, 7700 Germantown Ave. A store employee identified a man who had taken four cameras. The person fled in a black car.

May 9 Theft from vehicle at Valley Green. A man reported that he returned to his car after a family walk and found his rear driver side window broken and a Michael Koors bag with a wallet containing $400 in cash, ID and various credit cards was taken. One of the cards was used to make more than $900 in purchases at a Target.

Mt. Airy

May 3 Retail theft at CVS, 7065 Lincoln Drive. A store employee witnessed a man come in the store, quickly toss medications in a black Adidas duffel bag and flee. Items stolen valued at approximately $250.

May 4 Theft on the 7000 block of Crittenden. A man reported several packages stolen from his front porch.

May 4. Theft at Acme, 7010 Germantown Ave. A man was stopped by police after leaving the store with two bottles of wine, a bottle of Aleve and 14 packages of disposable Luna straws.

May 5 Theft from vehicle, W. Hortter St. and Parkline Dr. A woman reported finding her front passenger window broken and various credit and ID cards missing. One of her cards was used at a Target.

May 5 Retail theft at CVS 7065 Lincoln Drive. A man entered store, grabbed $400 of merchandise and fled.

May 6 Burglary, 800 block of W. Allens Lane. Police responded to a burglary report and found the front door of the home kicked in and a suspect still at the rear of the property near its garage. Nothing was reported taken and the man was taken into custody.

May 7 Retail theft from CVS 7065 Lincoln Drive. A store employee saw a woman take several facial products without paying. She fled in a black Lexus driven by a man.

May 7 Aggravated assault on the 300 block of E. Upsal St. A man told police he heard a knock on his door. When he answered, his neighbor entered and beat him with a wooden paddle. The neighbor fled the scene before police arrived.
