The program will be conducted by Michelle Impey, of Chubb insurance, and Jessica Silverman, of the Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts. They will offer practical guidance on protecting valuable collections, including fine art, rare jewelry, and archival materials, through preventive care, risk preparedness, and insurance strategies.

“Ask the Experts” is organized by the Conservancy and offered in collaboration with the Chestnut Hill Community Association.

Impey is Chubb’s consulting manager for fine art and collections risk, with more than 25 years in the art and insurance industries. Silverman is director of conservation at the conservation center.

The program has several learning objectives: To properly inventory and store fine art, jewelry, and archival collections; to learn emergency planning for irreplaceable objects; to know what steps to take when items are damaged; to understand valuation and documentation for insurance purposes; and to review case studies with insights from the experts.

Registrants will receive a “Protecting Your Collections” reference handout outlining clear steps for documentation, environmental monitoring, and insurance review.

This program is also part of Archives Month Philly, an annual citywide celebration of archives, archivists, and the history they preserve and share with the community.
