Celebration planned as water tower project nears completion

Posted

Walking by the water tower during the last few weeks, passersby can’t help but notice that work is underway on the "Light Up the Tower" project.

The World War ll Memorial has been repointed and repairs of the flagstone walkways are complete. Upgraded electricity and energy-efficient lighting of the tower and surrounding park will be added soon, along with new seating and signage explaining the history of the water tower.  Dedicated community volunteers have adopted the park as a service project and have weeded and planted new gardens.  Because of this community’s generosity, we will have an inviting and beautiful park for years to come.

Please mark your calendars and join us for a celebration of the project’s success on Friday, Nov. 17 at the Venetian Club. Expect to enjoy a spread of delicious food, free beer, a cash bar and great dance music by Six Pack, whose members have lived near the Water Tower for much of their lives.

Whether you have fond memories of the Water Tower from when you were growing up or enjoy the park and its programs now, we hope you will join us. Your $50 ticket also includes a donation to fund further improvements to the building and grounds of the recreation center.

Tickets are on sale now at watertower.ticketleap.com. Don’t wait. We expect a sell-out crowd!
