Sean R. Williams, the man found deceased in the front yard of an East Gravers Lane home on July 30, died from a drug overdose, according to the Philadelphia Department of Health. The drug found in his system was phencyclidine, a substance more commonly known as PCP.
The body was discovered by Chestnut Hill resident Brian Powell, who had been walking his dogs the morning after a thunderstorm, just after 8 a.m. that morning. He called 911 and waited with the body for several hours before police arrived to investigate.
Police say they do not suspect foul play.
Williams did not appear to live in the neighborhood and the Local has been unable to discover any further information about him, his life, or how he wound up lying face-down on a lawn on a quiet residential street. Neighbors who came out to witness the commotion when the ambulance and police arrived were stunned, and saddened, by what they saw – the body of a tall man who appeared to be in his late 30s or early 40s, and was dressed in “a ripped old white t-shirt, a pair of gym shorts and old sneakers.”
“It was surreal,” Powell told the Local that morning. “It’s a scene that will forever be tattooed in my head.”
