Police request the public’s help to locate 55-year-old Kyle Irvin, who has an active arrest warrant for the homicide. Kyle Irvin is Rashida’s husband.
Shortly after 6:30 p.m., officers from the 14th Police District were flagged down by an individual who reported hearing gunshots in the 6300 block of Germantown Avenue. Officers entered the location and found the 48-year-old victim inside a bathroom with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso.
A spokesperson for the Philadelphia Police Department sent a statement to the Local, writing, “Medics responded to the scene and pronounced her deceased at 6:45 p.m. No arrests have been made at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing with the Homicide Unit.”
Irvin’s business is located at 6325 Germantown Ave. on the border of Mt. Airy and Germantown. In a 2023 interview with the website Canvas Rebel, Rashida said she was proud to have opened the first spa in Philadelphia specifically devoted to men’s self care.
She explained her business offered similar treatments to women’s day spas, but said, “Our staff teach our guests how to maintain great result in between visits so they’ll never fall back into wanting to neglect themselves again, because men deserve to be pampered as well. We’re elated knowing we’re making a positive change in men’s lives.”
Janis Risch, executive director of the Mt. Airy Business Improvement District, sent a statement to the Local, writing, “We are shocked and saddened by this tragic incident. Rashida’s Mister Relaxation Spa was a terrific addition to the commercial corridor when she opened a few years ago.”
The statement continued, “She really updated the storefront and helped activate the commercial corridor.”
Police are urging anyone with information regarding the case to contact the Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334 or submit an anonymous tip by calling 215-686-TIPS. The city offers a $20,000 reward for tips leading to an arrest and conviction.
As more information becomes available, the Local will update this story online.
