“Be the Jury” is an interactive book for students in grades 3-8 that invites them to celebrate the nation’s founding in a new way. Developed by the Rendell Center for Civics and Civic Engagement, it places students in the courtroom at pivotal moments of the American Revolution.
“Rather than simply reading about history, students step into the roles of lawyers, witnesses, judges and jurors, learning to analyze evidence, think critically, communicate effectively, and appreciate the principles of justice that have shaped our democracy,” Rendell said in a prepared statement.
Published by Archimedes’ Printing Shoppe & Sundry Goodes, an independent publisher in Mt. Airy, “Be the Jury” offers an immersive courtroom drama that encourages readers to reach their own evidence-based conclusions.
“Although created with young readers in mind, the book’s fascinating stories, surprising historical details and interactive format make it just as engaging for adults,” said Lucy Noland, co-founder of Archimedes with West Mt. Airy author Susan Russell.
