Germantown Weavers Way to celebrate opening

Posted

Weavers Way Co-op is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of its new Germantown store with U.S. Rep. Dwight Evans and other local politicians, along with Fresh Artists, a student-based nonprofit arts organization that designed the centerpiece mural in the store on Friday, May 17, at 3:45 p.m.

That ceremony will be followed by a Community Celebration on June 15 and 16, featuring food and drink samples, kids' activities, local vendors, community groups, raffle prizes, and giveaways.

The Germantown store, located at the corner of Chelten and Morris avenues, is the Co-op's fourth store. The Mount Airy store at Carpenter Lane and Greene Street was established in 1973, the Chestnut Hill store on Germantown Avenue opened in 2010, and the Ambler store, which is the largest, opened in 2017.

Weavers Way Co-op has been a leader in Philadelphia's local food and small business economies for more than 50 years, supporting emerging local producers through programs like their Vendor Diversity Program.
