Are you one of those folks with a pocketful of change? Do you want to support the playground at Jenks? Then the Chestnut Hill Community Fund Drive wants to invite you and the Chestnut Hill community to “bring change” to our neighborhood.

We’re partnering with TD Bank and the Friends of Children’s Park in Chestnut Hill to bolster community giving during the current Chestnut Hill Community Fund Drive campaign.

As part of TD Bank’s “Bring Change” campaign, the Penny Arcade at the TD Bank in Chestnut Hill will be collecting coins on Friday, Feb. 26, to support one of our most popular neighborhood parks. Drop off your change between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. TD will match up to $2,000 in coins counted and donate it to the organization.

The Fund Drive Committee has been working with area schools, the Chestnut Hill Community Association and the Chestnut Hill Business Association to promote the event. School tours of the bank are also available on this date. This is the first Bring Change event in our neighborhood, and we’re pleased draw recognition to one of our 2016 grant applicants.

The Friends of the Children’s Park has been the stewards of the playground at Jenks since 1997, when hundreds of Chestnut Hill residents and business owners raised money and gathered to construct the wooden castle-like playground in an exciting 11-day community-build. At present, all 450 Jenks students use the park before school, during recess and after school.

Children from the neighborhood and surrounding areas use the park year-round. The “tot-lot” attracts parents and toddlers, baby sitters and nursery schools every morning and afternoon. On weekends and after school, the park draws people from the entire Northwest Philadelphia region as well as from nearby Montgomery County.

If you are unable to donate in person at the TD Bank Bring Change event, you can make a contribution to the Fund Drive in person or by mail to CHCF at 8434 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia 19118 or online at www.chestnuthill.org or contact Noreen Spota at 215-248-8810.
