Thanks to support from the community, Chestnut Hill Hospital representatives delivered more than 200 toys to the Salvation Army in Roxborough.
This season’s donation surpassed last year’s collection throughout the community benefiting even more children in Chestnut Hill, Mt. Airy, Roxborough and Manayunk.
“The Chestnut Hill community donation added significantly to our total collection for the annual Toy Shoppe,” says Marci Cooper, Salvation Army. “About 210 families, representing 337 children, qualified to participate in the Toy Shoppe where parents and guardians are accompanied by a volunteer elf to select two age-appropriate toys and a stuffed stocking for each of their children.”
“Chestnut Hill Hospital was pleased to lead this community effort,” says Cathy Brzozowski, of Chestnut Hill Hospital. “Toy boxes were placed in several businesses along the avenue. Weavers Way shoppers were a big contributor this year. Thanks to everyone, from the Hospital and beyond, who spread some joy this holiday season by donating a toy!”
In addition to toys, the Salvation Army distributed 150 winter coats and 37 bags of groceries.
