SLIDESHOW: Hill holds 97th July 4th celebration

Chestnut Hill's 97th July 4th Celebration was held last Thursday at the Water Tower sponsored by the Chestnut Hill Bocce Club.

This year's events included a bike, wagon and float parade, pony rides, face painting, a moon bounce, and a petting zoo that included "Percy," an 11-month-old baby camel, and "Little Bit," a Coati Mundi.

No matter what your age, there was something for everyone.

John Cassidy, who is part comedian and part magician, performed a magic show that features a 6-foot red balloon that he climbs into to perform a card trick. Cassidy has performed at the White House and holds the Guinness World Record for balloon sculpting. Nine-year-old Owen Bols, of Oreland, didn't stand a chance of beating him in a contest to see who could blow up the most balloons. He did teach Cassidy a few tricks of his own.

Members of Chapter 590, Vietnam Veterans of America, also showed up with a "Huey" helicopter at the Chestnut Hill Bocce Club, 118 East Hartwell Lane. For some it was a chance to see a piece of history, but for others it was a reminder of the many young men – like Charles Buckley – who died fighting in the Vietnam War.
