A 19-year-old Chestnut Hill College male student was reported in stable condition at Chestnut Hill Hospital after suffering multiple injuries in a fall April 24 from a three-story outside stairwell near Fournier Hall on the college campus, according to Lisa Mixon, a college spokesperson.
“We are very relieved that the student is expected to make a full recovery,” Mixon said.
The college, which is withholding the student’s name pending notification of his family, said it was cooperating with the Philadelphia Police Department, which is investigating the incident as a possible suicide attempt.
“We urge all the members of the college community and the public to keep this student and his family in our thoughts and prayers at this time,” the college said in a statement.
In 2011, a Chestnut Hill College adjunct professor committed suicide by jumping from a second-floor balcony on campus. According to a statement released by the school at the time, the man fell 30 feet in College Hall and was unresponsive when police arrived at the scene.
