There is still a little more time to shop for your Christmas gifts in Chestnut Hill. Though you may be a bit rushed this late in the game, the Avenue offers many options for fun and interesting gifts for those on your list.

Chestnut Hill Sports

The Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic is going to be one of the biggest hockey events of the year.    If you have any hockey fans on your list, be sure to visit Chestnut Hill Sports where they sell all the hockey accessories you might need (scarfs, hats, gloves and novelty items) to cheer the Flyers as they take on the Rangers at Citizens Bank Park in January.

Lavender Hill

Always a great place to find home furnishing and wonderful hostess gifts, Lavender Hill has extended their product offerings.

“We have branched out into carrying accessories,” said owner Florence Maloumian, “We are selling wonderful fashion jewelry, scarves, and pillows with an  interesting dog motif.

Once again this year, customers are enjoying Lavender Hill’s permanent floral arrangements.  These are colorful arrangements made with dry flowers and handmade paper flowers that offer a spectacular look and appeal to all tastes.

Delphine Gallery

This intimate offers a great selection of estate and designers jewelry and glass artists.  Some of this year’s most popular items include Simon Pearce tea lights and beautiful glass planets by Josh Simpson.  You can find a nice variety of sterling silver hoop earring and owner Debbie is always very helpful.

Chestnut Hill Historical Society Bookstore

You will find great picture books celebrating the history of Chestnut Hill, Germantown and Mt. Airy at the Chestnut Hill Historical Society.  These paperback books are published by Arcadia Publishing and two of them authored by CHHS curator Liz Jarvis.  Hardcover coffee table books on local art, architecture and transportation are available as well.  Maps make great stocking stuffers. For about $5 you can get an Architectural Guide and Map of Chestnut Hill, 20th Century Chestnut Hill Map & Self-Guided Tour or  A walking tour of the St. Martins area of Chestnut Hill.

Community Organizations

The gift of membership to one of Chestnut Hill’s organizations or institutions is a double gift.  The recipient enjoys it and the community organization does as well.  Friends, grandparents and families with children can all find something interesting at the Morris Arboretum where annual memberships offer many wonderful features.

Anyone who appreciates Chestnut Hill’s architecture and history will benefit from a membership to the Chestnut Hill Historical Society which offers member discounts in their bookstore and Archives. A membership at the Woodmere Art Museum gives free admission to special exhibitions, discount in the Museum store and discounts to programs, classes and concerts.

Finally, when your loved one receives a Chestnut Hill Community Association membership, he will receive The Chestnut Hill Local each week at his home and also benefit from 10 percent discount at most area shops and restaurants.
