Leigh W. Bauer, 73, formerly of Mt. Airy, a lawyer who had practiced in Philadelphia for nearly five decades, died June 22 at Gwynedd Estates, a retirement community near Ambler.

Mr. Bauer had been a partner at Diamond, Polsky and Bauer, a firm he joined after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1962. He had also taught legal studies to undergraduate and graduate students at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Born in Philadelphia, he graduated from Germantown Friends School and received a bachelor’s degree from Lafayette College.

An outdoorsman, Mr. Bauer was a member of the Maine Professional Guides Association.

He is survived by his wife, Delores; a son, Stephen; a daughter, Beth Montanari; a stepson, Leonard Parks Jr.; a sister; six grandchildren, and his former wife, Lyn Bauer.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 21, at the Meeting House at Germantown Friends School (GFS), 31 W. Coulter St., Philadelphia, PA 19144.  Memorial donations may be made to the Community Scholars Program at GFS. – WF
