Leona McGettigan Ward, 82, formerly of Chestnut Hill and Flourtown, a longtime community volunteer, died Jan. 12 at St. Mary Manor in Lansdale.
Mrs. Ward was a co-founder of the Chestnut Hill Town Watch and was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
She also had worked for many years at local business firms, including Jones Oldsmobile, and at Chestnut Hill Hospital.
Born Leona Coyle and raised in Philadelphia, she was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy.
Mrs. Ward is survived by daughters Kathy, Nancy and Maureen; a son, John, and one grandchild. An infant son preceded her in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at St. Mary Manor Chapel, 701 Lansdale Rd. in Lansdale. Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at the Flourtown Country Club, 150 McCloskey Road.
