Theater mavens who plan to attend a performance of “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” at Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion in Germantown should prepare to be frightened. That is the warning from officials at the Victorian house, museum and garden where actor, playwright and author Josh L. Hitchens will play the respected English physician and his evil alter ego in a one-man performance, which is based on a Robert Louis Stevenson novella. Hitchens, author of “Haunted History of Philadelphia,” is the theater artistic director at Allens Lane Art Center in Mt. Airy. Tickets are $30, and performances of the show are scheduled for 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 28, and 2 and 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29. Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion is at 200 W. Prepare to be ‘very afraid’
Lawrence Geller, 89, and his real-life wife, Bernadette Cronin-Geller, 87, who have performed in many area theaters for 50 years, will stage the poignant two-person play, “Love Letters,” at the Center on the Hill in the Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 11.
