About 200 people turned out on Saturday night in support of the Water Tower Recreation Center for an evening of great food, drinks and lively music from the band String Theory in the ballroom of the Venetian Club. The evening featured a slide show of various events at the rec center throughout the years, along with illustrations of planned improvements.
City Councilmember Cindy Bass and State Rep.-elect Tarik Khan along with Water Tower Advisory Council members gave brief remarks on the importance of this beloved area that serves so many in our neighborhood.
The "Light Up the Tower" project is close to meeting its goal to raise $100,000 toward funding for much needed improvements. If you wish to help, donations can be made at wtrec.org.
