“The Chestnut Hill community has come together to breathe new life into the Water Tower park area, and the results are stunning,” the VFA said in a statement.
The Water Tower Advisory Council raised the funds for the project.
The WWII Memorial has undergone extensive repairs and repointing, and the historic plaques honoring the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice have been meticulously restored. Energy-efficient lampposts with beautiful luminaires now illuminate the park, and a new historic sign detailing the tower's fascinating history will be unveiled soon. A new bench provides the perfect spot to sit and admire the historic tower, while dedicated volunteers have been working tirelessly to ensure the park's landscape is more beautiful than ever.
The organization also is launching a new website. Visitors can explore the rich history of the tower, the war memorial, and the park's landscape. Read the captivating stories of the soldiers whose names are etched on the memorial plaque and discover fascinating historic photos.
