A man believed to be associated with the rape of a 71-year-old woman in Mt. Airy on Sept. 15 was taken into custody in North Carolina on Monday morning, the Philadelphia Police Department told the Local Tuesday.
According to police, an assailant ran into the victim’s unlocked house, located on the 7400 block of Devon Street, screaming for help and claiming he was being chased. According to police, an assailant ran into the victim’s unlocked house, located on the 7400 block of Devon Street, screaming for help and claiming he was being chased. After entering, the offender proceeded to demand money from the victim, and then punched her in the head and back multiple times and choked her. He then forced the victim to take off her clothes before sexually assaulting her.
The offender fled in the victim’s gray 2014 Toyota Corolla with her cell phone and credit card. The car has yet to be recovered. The victim is in stable condition.
