A brief but strong storm on Wednesday afternoon knocked out power to local neighborhoods. PECO reported 14,267 customers affected in the region, including 556 in Glenside, and over 3,000 between Chestnut Hill College and Lafayette Hill. The Germanton Cricket Club in Flourtown was affected, as well as the Morris Arboretum.
As of 11:40 this morning, Flourtown was still without power.
Chestnut Hill, Mt. Airy and Germantown were spared the most severe part of the storm. The Wednesday night concert in Pastorius Park was moved indoors to Springside Chestnut Hill as a precaution.
