When voters went to the polls this year, they received an “I Voted” sticker with a new design.
Elodie Breslin, a seventh-grader at Our Mother of Consolation School on East Chestnut Hill Avenue, placed third in the city-wide art contest to design the "I Voted" sticker handed out at the polls this year.
Breslin was the only child among the finalists. Finalists ranged from professional graphic designers to elementary school students. The winner of the online voting was the design by Katie Fish of Temple University’s Tyler School of Art and Architecture, with 18.48% of the votes. Christian Belluso, an adult, finished second.
Breslin’s design featured a bold “I Voted” against a deep blue Liberty Bell silhouette. Fish’s winning design features a sketch of the Philadelphia City Hall clock tower, with the clock’s face forming the “O” in the word “Voted.”
Miranda Clark Binder, art teacher at OMC and recent judge for Chestnut Hill Fall for the Arts Festival, said “Elodie has not only an artistic talent, but she makes a concentrated effort to nurture that talent with practice. I was happy to recommend her for a summer program at Woodmere this past summer. I am pleased to see her continue to develop as an artist.”
