Letters: Paper delivery beats the Post Office

Posted

One thing you can count on this winter: if there are snowflakes in the air, there’ll be no mail delivery. Though it be a sunny afternoon, the streets plowed, the front walks shoveled, swept and salted, the Market Square post office will once more be a front-runner in the competition for Philadelphia’s worst post office.

Let’s look at the brighter side of the coin: It’s been snowing all night long, streets are only half cleared, the sun has yet to rise but the newspaper has been delivered, artfully tossed onto walk or drive. Snow day after snow day, one can always count on the newspaper man. I’d like to recognize Kevin Murph, who delivers newspapers throughout Chestnut Hill; on-time, regardless of the weather. Perhaps – if he has a few spare hours after sunrise – Kevin should be appointed our local postmaster. He’d certainly do a better job.
