Letters: Club logo should not shed Native American image

Posted

To remove anything Native American in America is only to continue to do the very same that our Forefathers tried to do.

My husband is Native American. We are members of The Philadelphia Cricket Club. I have been a lifelong member of the PCC, as were my parents, and are my children, as well as their father and his parents. My husband does not feel that the Indian Logo is the least bit offensive, but rather would be offensive to remove.

I also heard from a Lenape Indian, that he finds commemorating the Indians to be very valuable. He was heartbroken to read the St Martins article in the Philadelphia Inquirer.

This letter is intended to help individuals to embrace, rather than try to erase, anything Native American. Thank you to the PCC Board for taking the time to make a very thoughtful decision with consideration of all individuals.

I did not have an opportunity to sign either petition but would very much like my name added to the petition supporting commemorating the people and land on which the Club stands.
