Holidays of faith: churches offer pageantry and prayer

Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill

A pageant led by children and youth will start at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 24. A Christmas Eve service of Lessons and Carols begins at 9:30 p.m. with a Prelude featuring the PCCH Festival Brass. Services follow at 10 p.m. A Christmas Day service of Lessons and Carols starts at 10 a.m. Dec. 25. For information visit chestnuthillpres.org.The church is at 8855 Germantown Ave.

Summit Presbyterian Church

Christmas Eve Candlelight Worship begins in the sanctuary at 7:30 p.m., Dec. 24, and also will be livestreamed at summitpres.net. Christmas Day worship is Zoom Only at 10 a.m., Dec. 25., also at summitpres.net. The church is at 6757 Greene St.

Grace Epiphany Episcopal Churc

“Carols from Grace,” a Christmas Eve service of Lessons and Carols will be at 4 p.m. Dec. 24. For information visit graceepiphany.org.The church is at 224 E. Gowen Ave.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

The congregation’s Christmas Pageant will be 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 24. A Choral Eucharist, Rite II, follows later that day at 10 p.m.; and a Combined Christmas Choral Eucharist, Rite II, begins at 10 a.m. Dec. 25. For information visit stpaulschestnuthill.org. Church of St. Martin-in-the-Fields

The church will host its Christmas Eve services start at 3 p.m. with an All-Ages Short Services, followed by a Eucharist with Music and Christmas Pageant at 5 p.m., and later a Holy Choral Eucharist at 10 p.m. Services on Christmas Day will be at 8 a.m., 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. For information visit stmartinec.org. Our Mother of Consolation

Mass will be held Christmas Eve at 4 p.m., 6:30 p.m. (Youth Choir carols will begin at 6:15 p.m.)  and 9 p.m. (Adult Choir carols will begin at 8:30 pm.) . Masses on Christmas Day will be at 9 and 11 a.m. Families are invited to bring their images of Jesus Christ for a blessing. (There will be no Sunday Story gathering for youngsters, but church leaders hope to see little ones in the pews with their parents). For information visit omcparish.com. The church is at 9 E. Christ Ascension Lutheran Church

The congregation will host Christmas Eve Candlelight worship 7 p.m. Dec. 24 and A services of Lessons and Carols at 9:30 a.m. Christmas Day, Dec. 25, when church leaders say “We’ll sing all your favorites.” For information visit christascension.org and the church’s Facebook page. Oxford Presbyterian Church 

Christmas Eve services will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 24. Sunday services will be held at 11 a.m. Christmas Day, Dec. 25. You may also worship online. For information visit oxfordpc.org. The church is at 8501 Stenton Ave. 

St. Thomas, Whitemarsh

The church will host a Christmas Eve Family Services at 3 p.m. Dec. 24, followed by a Choir Supper from 4 to 8 p.m. A Christmas Eve Festival service will be 6 to 7 p.m. and and 9 to 10 p.m. On Christmas Day, Holy Eucharist Rite I service  will be at 8 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m. Christmas Day Service. Chestnut Hill United Church
