Fun is always in season at Green Fest Winter Fundraiser

We are lucky to live, shop and work in an area known for its green leafy streets and pocket parks. Chestnut Hill’s Greenspace Initiatives Committee will hold a Green Fest 2021 Winter Fundraiser to benefit Greenspace Initiatives greening in Chestnut Hill on Saturday, Dec. 4, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mermaid Park.

Mermaid Park is one of our newest pocket parks and located at the southeastern entrance to Chestnut Hill on Germantown Avenue. The family friendly event co-hosted by the Chestnut Hill Community Association, Chestnut Hill Business Association and Chestnut Hill Conservancy will run in concert with the Saturday farmers market in the lower hill near Mermaid Lane and functions as a kickoff party for the Greenspace Initiatives 2021 – 2022 Fundraising Campaign.

Music, tasty treats and raffles are planned. Singer-songwriter Miles Thompson will bring his brand of original americana to the lower hill, delighting those who are strolling by and attending the Saturday Farmers Market.  Amy Edleman of Night Kitchen Bakery and member of the committee will be providing free hot chocolate, coffee and small pastries. When you stop by, you’ll be able to buy $5 chances on Woodland Santa Raffle Packages highlighting Past, Present and Future Greenspace efforts. Each Santa Raffle will include a book from Hilltop Books, $25 Weavers Way gift certificate, $25 Chestnut Hill gift certificate and parking tokens, and Chestnut Hill Community Association tote bag.

Attendees will get to meet Greenspace volunteers as well as meet the Traveling Backyard Gnomes as they go “on the road” for their first outing!

In addition, you will be able to see a Master Plan for Mermaid Park improvements and provide suggestions on Winston Park improvements (Winston/Willow Grove Intersection) that area neighbors are discussing with the Greenspace Initiatives Committee. Members of the Friends of Pastorius Park will also be on hand to discuss their recent work and upcoming Spring 2022 plans which have been supported by the Greenspace group.

The event will also feature a “Pay It Forward Fence” where you can hang a leaf on the fence with your donation support. If you are unable to attend the event in person, you can make a contribution to continue the great greening work underway by visiting www.chestnuthill.org and make a contribution to the CHCA Tree Fund.

Stop by on Dec. 4 and see all the great work that is being done to GREEN Chestnut Hill!
