Edward Case, age 76, died peacefully in his sleep on December 24, 2022, from complications of Parkinson’s disease.
Ned is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Ann (née Belli) Case, and his children Peter Case (Lea Kleinman); Stuart Case; Emma Case (Gregory Morales), and Thomas Case (Alexa Roemmich). He was the beloved brother of Barbara Case (Sheri Lutz) and Elizabeth Case.
Ned earned an M.A. in history and a B.S. in government from the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and an MBA with academic distinction at the University of Virginia’s Darden School.
He worked in corporate treasury with General Motors in New York City and was later Treasurer of GM of Canada. He joined Campbell Soup as Deputy Treasurer, subsequently moving to operations as finance manager for dry soups and later to international acquisitions. From 1996 to 2002 at Armstrong World Industries Ned was corporate controller, CFO of the European flooring business, and general manager of ceramics. He was CFO of Formica Corporation and Arizona Chemical. From 2009 until illness forced his retirement in 2020 Ned provided financial analysis and business planning to mid-market companies, often involving turnarounds and financial distress, and consulted with several large Philadelphia nonprofit organizations.
A Renaissance man, Ned was an accomplished pianist who loved classical music; a faithful correspondent; a lover of games, especially chess and historical war games; a natural linguist who enjoyed international travel; and an enthusiastic stamp collector. A serious reader, Ned kept a list of every book he read during his life.
