The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the two-week period from September 27 to October 3, 2021. Some dates earlier than the current period took place at that date and reported after the fact.

Chestnut Hill

Sept 27 Theft. Two men attempted to pry open an ATM at a bank in the 7700 block of Crittenden St.

Sept 28 Destruction of Property/Vandalism, Theft. Three males opened a slot machine in a store in the 8000 block of Germantown Ave. and stole the moneybox inside. Estimated theft $4,000 plus damage to the machine.

Sept 29 Theft from Auto. The rear passenger-side window was broken on a car parked in the 100 block of W. Mermaid Lane. Items taken included a flashlight, multi-tool, phone charger.

Sept 30 Theft from Auto. The window was broken on a car parked in the 200 block of Rex Ave. A toolbag was taken.

Oct 2 Theft from Auto. Returning from a walk, a man discovered a window broken on his car, parked at Seminole and Chestnut Hill Aves. The glove compartment was open but nothing taken.

Mt. Airy

Sept 13 Theft. A UPS package was delivered to a drop site in the 400 block of Domino Lane but was intercepted before the recipient could pick it up.

Sept 21 Theft from Auto. A complainant in the 200 block of E. Cliveden sold a car but did not remove the tags, and is receiving tickets on the plate.

Sept 27 Theft from Auto. In the 8100 block of St. Martins Lane, a man sold his auto and the new owner said he would mail the tags back to him, but now refuses to.

Sept 27 Theft. A man was photographed as he was removing packages from a delvery truck at Germantown Ave. and Allens Lane.

Sept 27 Aggravated Assault. A man was assaulted in his residence in the 700 block of Phil Ellena St. by his wife, who struck him in the head with a mason jar twice.

Sept 28 Theft. Two metal planters were removed from a storefront in the 6500 block of Germantown Ave.

Sept 28 Theft from Auto. An unknown person entered an unlocked car park in the 300 block of E. Gorgas Lane. Nothing was taken.

Sept 29 Burglary. Responding to a burglar alarm at a home in the 6300 block of Sprague St., police found a window broken. Owner reports nothing was taken.

Sept 29 Motor Vehicle Theft. A food delivery person reported that four people stole her delivery vehicle while she was making a stop in the 6900 block of Clearview St. They threw her phone away; she retrieved it and called the police. The vehicle was found a short time later in the 5300 block of Baynton St., however one of the delivery orders was stolen.

Sept 30 Aggravated Assault. A girl was pushed down the stairs by a boy at her school in the 400 block of Washington Lane. Her left foot was broken.

Sept 30 Theft from Auto. The window was broken on a car parked at Valley Green Rd and Wolcott Drive. Phone, wallet, and laptop were missing. Estimated total value $1,300.

Sept 30 Theft from Auto. The window was broken on a car parked at Valley Green Rd and Wolcott Drive. Phone and wallet were missing. Estimated total value $700. Oct 1 Theft/Shoplifting. Two males shoplifted a box of cigars from a supermarket in the 7000 block of Germantown Ave.

Oct 2 Burglary. A bike was taken from an open garage on a residence in the 600 block of Westview Ave.

Oct 3 Theft from Auto. Returning to her car parked at Valley Green Rd and Wolcott Drive, a woman found a side window broken and her purse missing, containing keys, cards, a pocket knife, and $100 cash.

Oct 3 Theft from Auto. Returning to his car parked at Valley Green Rd and Wolcott Drive, a man found a side window broken and his wallet missing, containing cards and cash.

Oct 3 Theft. Packages taken from the porch of a residence in the 500 block of Murdoch Rd. Items stolen included baseball cards, diabetic supplies, and mechanical pencils. Estimated value $802.
