The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the two-week period between October 25 and November 1. Some dates earlier than the current period took place at that date and reported after the fact.

Chestnut Hill

Oct 22 Theft. A laser level was removed from a van on the 100 block of W. Chestnut Hill Ave. Value $1,000.

Oct 26 Theft. A cash register was opened at a store in the 7800 block of Germantown Ave. $400 cash was taken.

Oct 25 Theft. A shoplifter was apprehended trying to take beer from a supermarket in the 7700 block of Crittenden St.

Oct 26 Theft from Auto. A student parked in the lower lot of a college in the 9600 block of Germantown Ave. returned to find the driver-side window broken. Items missing include a tote bag and personal items.

Oct 29 Theft. A laptop was removed from a residence in the 8200 block of Shawnee St.

Mt. Airy

Oct 23 Theft from Auto. The window was broken on a car parked in the 100 block of W. Gorgas Lane. A credit card was stolen.

Oct 24 Theft from Auto. A door was left unlocked on a car parked at E. Gowen Ave. And Boyer St. and a purse was removed from the front seat, containing credit cards and $200 cash.

Oct 26 Theft from Auto. The passenger-side window was broken on a  car parked in the 600 block of Allens Lane near McCallum St. Items removed include a laptop, sunglasses, gray backpack, and a wallet with $200 cash. Estimated value $2,000.

Oct 26 Auto Theft, Robbery. A woman was sitting in her car in the 7200 block of Cresheim Rd when a man threatened her with a gun and ordered her out of her car. Hew fled with her car and her phone, but threw her purse to her as he left.

Oct 27 Auto Theft. A parked in the 1500 block of E. Duval was stolen.

Oct 27 Theft from Auto. A box of chips and a printer were removed from a car in a parking lot in the 1300 block of E. Washington Lane. Estimated value $790.

Oct 28 Theft. A bike was stolen from an unlocked yard at a residence in the 600 block of E. Durham St. The owner later discovered it posted online for sale. Police were notified. Estimated value $600.

Oct 28 Burglary. An apartment in the 200 block of Mt. Pleasant Ave. was burgled. Items taken include a computer, a PS4, and other items. Estimated value $1,700.

Oct 28 Destruction/Vandalism of Property. The resident of an apartment in the 200 block of Mt. Pleasant Ave. discovered a man trying to break the lock on his apartment door. The offender fled. The door and lock mechanism were damaged.

Oct 28 Destruction/Vandalism of Property. The door to a residence in the 7100 block of Ardleigh St. was forced open. Nothing was taken, but estimated $500 in damage.

Oct 28 Theft. A man rode his bike to a convenience store at Chew Ave. and Church Lane. He left it unattended and it was taken. Video was obtained.

Oct 28 Theft. A former apartment resident in the 200 block of W. Sedgwick St. used the building lock code to steal mail from current residents.

Oct 29 Auto Theft. A car was stolen from the rear driveway of a house in the 400 block of W. Ellet St.

Oct 29 Theft from Auto. The rear-right window was broken on a car parked at Sherman and Sedgwick Sts. Items removed include steaming car unit and tv/DVD player. Estimated value $900.

Oct 29 Auto Theft. A truck was stolen from the 600 block of E. Mt. Airy Ave. It was recovered by the police before the theft was reported.

Oct 30 Theft from Auto. The driver-side window was broken on a car parked in the 6500 block of Wissahickon Ave. Items taken include a gold bracelet, a ruck sack, and fishing gear. Estimated value $600.

Oct 30 Theft from Auto. The passenger-side window was broken on a car parked in the 6600 block of Wissahickon Ave. A pair of sunglasses was taken.

Oct 31 Aggravated Assault. A man arrived at a medical office in the 8800 block of Germantown Ave. with a stab wound. He said it resulted from an altercation at a nearby grocery. He had puncture wounds to the left side of the chest and abdomen.

Nov 1 Theft. A man reported one of the people who came to his house to watch the Eagles game stole his phone, with a cardholder on the back. A card was used to withdraw $850. Estimated total value $950.
