Crime Report: Oct. 11-18, 2021

The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the two-week period from October 11 to October 18. Some dates earlier than the current period took place at that date and reported after the fact.

Chestnut Hill

Oct 10 Theft from Auto. The catalytic converter was removed from a car parked on the 100 block of E. Moreland Ave.

Oct 11 Theft. Two bicycles were removed from the porch of a residence in the 200 block of Meade St. Estimated value $8,600.

Oct 13 Theft from Auto. While on a bike ride, a woman received an alert that her bank card was being used at multiple locations. Returning to her car, parked in the 200 block on Northwestern Ave., she discovered the front passenger window broken and her purse removed, containing cards and $20 cash. Estimated card charges $520.

Oct 13 Theft from Auto. The catalytic converter was removed from a car parked outside a hospital in the 8800 block of Germantown Ave.

Oct 13 Attempted Theft from Auto, Destruction/Vandalism of Property. A man discovered three people attempting to remove the catalytic converter from his car, parked in the 7600 block of Crittenden St. They fled when interrupted. Wires were cut, but unclear if any parts were taken.

Oct 14 Burglary. A man was apprehended after he attempted to break into a liquor store in the 8700 block of Germantown Ave.

Mt. Airy

June 5 Theft from Auto. A tag was stolen from a car in the 6300 block of Chew Ave. in June, and the owner is starting to receive tickets connected to the license.

Oct 1 Theft from Auto. Returning to her car parked in the 1000 block of Kitchens Lane, a woman discovered the driver window broken and items removed, including a wallet and a pair of glasses. The cards were later used for purchases at various stores. Estimated value $3,000.

Oct 4 Theft. A Fedex letter was recorded as delivered to a residence in the 500 block of Pleasant Place, but it was not.

Oct 10 Theft from Auto. A black bag containing a tablet was removed from an unlocked car parked in the 7100 block of Crittenden St. Estimated value $360.

Oct 11 Burglary. A gaming console was stolen from a residence in the 6600 block of Ross St. Estimated value $800. Police are reviewing video of the incident.

Oct 11 Theft from Auto. Returning to her car parked at W. Hortter and Park Line Drive, a woman found the rear passenger window of her car broken and her purse and wallet removed.  $400 was later charged on the cards. Estimated total value $2,000.

Oct 11 Assault. A woman was arrested for assaulting a police officer.

Oct 11 Destruction of Property/Vandalism. A vacant property for sale in the 200 block of Slocum St.  was discovered to be occupied, though the squatter was not found.

Oct 11 Theft from Auto. A duffel bag was removed from the back seat on an unlocked vehicle inn the 300 block of E. Sharpnack St. Estimated value of items $3,000.

Oct 12 Theft. A shoplifter walked out of a liquor store in the 7200 block of Germantown Ave. with a bottle of vodka, valued $12.99.

Oct 12 Theft from Auto. The passenger-side window of a car parked in the 700 block of Wolcott Drive was broken, Items removed included pajamas, slippers, and a phone charger. Estimated total value $100.

Oct 12 Auto Theft. An unlocked car was stolen from the 1200 block of E. Cliveden St.

Oct 12 Theft from Auto. A woman returned to her car, parked at Kitchens Lane and the White Trail in the Wissahickon, to discover a rear window broken and her purse missing, containing cards and $40 cash.

Oct 13 Theft from Auto. In the 1200 block of Cardeza St., a phone was removed from a car. Estimated value $1000.

Oct 13 Theft from Auto. Someone broke into a car parked in the 6400 block of Ardleigh St. and removed a container valued at $200.

Oct 14 Theft. A Shoplifter stole laundry detergent and fabric softener from a store in the 6500 block of Greene St. Estimated value $94.

Oct 14 Theft. A delivery package was removed a residence in the 500 block of E. Allens Lane before it could be retrieved. Estimated value $ $502.

Oct 14 Theft. A shoplifter was arrested at a supermarket in the 7000 block of Germantown Ave. Estimated value of soap $114.

Oct 14 Theft. A woman let her associate use her phone, and he would not return it. Estimated value $800.

Oct 14 Theft from Auto. Items were removed from a car parked in the driveway of a residence in the 1100 block of E. Cliveden St. Items include a laptop, a radio battery, and a school police ID badge. Estimated total value $$550.

Oct 14 Aggravated assault. A man is in critical condition after being shot at the intersection of E. Duval and Milton Sts.

Oct 15 Shoplifting. A woman shoplifted laundry detergent band nail polish from a store at Germantown Ave. and W. Hortter St.

Oct 17 Theft from Auto. An ID card was removed from an unlocked car parked in the 400 block of E. Sharpnack St.

Oct 17 Auto Theft, Theft from Auto. While parked at a convenience store in the 7200 block of Germantown Ave. with the keys in the car and the engine running, a rental car was stolen. There was a gun in the glove compartment, valued at $500.

Oct 17 Shoplifting. A man shoplifted toothpaste and cake mix from a store at Germantown Ave. and W. Hortter St. He was observed by the owner and arrested while attempting to leave.
