The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from May 2 to May 8. (Some crimes that occurred on dates earlier than the current period may be included.)

Chestnut Hill

May 2 Theft: Pick pocketing. A complainant reported seeing a man standing too close to her while she was on the 8200 block of Germantown Avenue. She went to make a purchase after and realized her wallet was missing. 

May 3 Theft. A complainant reported seeing an offender leave the CVS on the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue with merchandise without paying for it.

Mt. Airy

April 26 Theft. A complainant reported to police that an offender stole firearms from the bedroom of his house, located on the 200 block of Montana Street.

April 28 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant’s boyfriend gave permission to a tow truck driver to tow his car after it was in an auto accident on the 7300 block of Emlen Street. The tow truck driver said he’d provide the address of the parking lot he towed it to, but has ignored all phone calls and texts since then. 

April 28 Theft. A complainant reported that Amazon had delivered her package to her residence on the 7000 block of Cresheim Road, but when she went to get the packages they were no longer there. 

May 1 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported her car missing from where she parked it, which was on the 100 block of West Weaver Street.

May 2 Theft. A complainant reported that a nurse from a retirement home located on the 6400 block of Greene Street stole a bag of clothes from a closet. Other nurses stated that the offender seemed to be under the influence. 

May 3 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant’s laptop went missing from her car while it was parked on the 7100 block of Devon Street. No signs of forced entry were visible.

May 3 Theft. A complainant had a package delivered while she was away from her house, located on the 300 block of West Upsal Street. When she got home, the package was gone. 

May 4 Theft. A complainant reported seeing an offender leave the wine and spirits store on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue with merchandise without paying for it.

May 7 Theft. A complainant reported seeing an offender attempt to leave Wawa, located on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue, with merchandise without paying for it before he was stopped by a witness.
