Crime Report: December 6-13, 2021

The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the two-week period between December 6 and 13, 2021. Some dates earlier than the current period took place at that date and reported after the fact.

Chestnut Hill

Dec 7 Theft from Auto. Returning to his car parked at W. Northwestern Ave. and Oak Rd., a man found the passenger window broken on his car. Missing items include an iPad, a laptop, a passport, a backpack, and two school books.

Dec 7 Arson. The principle of a school in the 8300 block of Germantown Ave. reported a student lit a tissue on fire in a classroom on the second floor.  Due to the student’s age, the incident was handled by school authorities.

Dec 8 Aggravated Assault. A mother was assaulted by her daughter during an argument outside a hospital in the 8800 block of Germantown Ave. The older woman received lacerations and an injured hand.

Dec 11 Robbery. A pharmacy in the 7700 block of Germantown Ave. was robbed by an  assailant who told the clerk he had a gun, then demanded the register and the safe be opened. He left with $5,000 cash. No gun was ever seen.

Dec 11 Robbery. An assailant entered a market in the 8200 block of Germantown Ave., and threatened two people, saying “Don’t move, don’t scream, I’m going to rob the store.” He indicated he had a gun, though none of the witnesses reported seeing one. When a third person appeared, he fled. Nothing was taken.

 

Mt. Airy

Nov 30 Theft. A delivery to an apartment in the 6800 block of Emlen St. was never received. Items missing include music mixing equipment.

Dec 5 Theft of Auto Parts. The catalytic converter was cut out of a car parked on the 200 block of W. Johnson St.

Dec 6 Theft from Auto. The driver-side window was broken on an SUV parked in the 200 block of W. Mt. Airy Ave. A wallet was taken, containing ID and Credit cards, gift cards, and $70-$80 cash.

Dec 6 Auto Theft. A man reported that while he was starting his car, parked on the 6400 block of Ardleigh, someone got in and drove off. The vehicle was later recovered, and the Auto Theft was determined to have been an error.

Dec 7 Theft from Auto. The window was broken on a car parked in the 300 block of Wellesly Rd. Loose change was taken.

Dec 11 Theft from Auto. A car parked on Valley Green Rd. was entered through the rear passenger-side window. Items removed a purse, containing house keys and multiple cards; a designer bag; a backpack; boots; and a jacket. Estimated total value $!,840.

Dec 12 Robbery.  In the 400 block of Vernon Rd., a delivery person was approached by an assailant with gun in a robbery attempt. The delivery person ran, and came to the 14th District headquarters.
