Crime Report: Dec. 27, 2021 - Jan. 9, 2022

The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the two-week period from Dec 27 to Jan 9. Some dates earlier than the current period took place at that date and reported after the fact.

Chestnut Hill

Dec. 9 Theft. Woman’s package containing electric toothbrushes never showed up at her house on the 7700 block of Crittenden despite the parcel company listing it as delivered.

Dec. 27 Theft from auto. Woman parked on unit block of Valley Green Road had her car window broken and items stolen, including a purse with ID, credit cards and cash.

Dec. 28 Theft from auto. Complainant claims somebody broke into her car parked on the 7700 block of Ardleigh Street and stole an ID and a Covid vaccination card.

Dec. 31 Theft from auto. Man parked his car at the corner of Seminole and Chestnut Hill Avenue. Upon his return, he realized a window was smashed and items were stolen.

Jan. 7 Theft from auto. Complainant stated that a window of parked car was smashed and items were taken at corner of Valley Green Road and Wolcott Drive.

Jan. 9 Theft from auto. Man stated his car was broken into and items were stolen along 200 block of W. Northwestern Ave.

Jan. 9 Theft. Offenders walked into the Shell gas station on 8000 block of Germantown Avenue and stole $35 worth of merchandise. 

Jan. 9 Theft from auto. Woman parked car at unit block of Valley Green Road and returned to find window smashed in and items stolen, including prescription drugs. 

Mt. Airy

Dec. 16 Theft. Woman claims that her bicycle was stolen off the back of her vehicle while parked at her residence on the unit block of E. Gorgas Lane.

Dec. 28 Theft from auto. A woman had her catalytic converter stolen from her car outside her house located on the 6800 block of McCallum Street.

Dec. 29 Theft from auto. Two complainants had rear windows of their cars broken with items stolen on the 6600 block of Wayne Avenue. 

Dec. 30 Theft. A man went to the rear of a property on the 6600 block of Ross Street and stole a security camera. 

Dec. 31 Theft from auto. Complainant parked their car on the 1000 block of Kitchens Lane. Upon return realized items were stolen. 

Jan. 1 Theft. A package containing gifts was stolen from a woman’s apartment building on the unit block of W. Hortter Street. 

Jan. 1 Misc. Woman claims her landlord illegally locked her out of her apartment on unit block of W. Sharpnack so she smashed a window to gain entry. 

Jan. 3 Auto theft. Complainant claims car was left at corner of Belfield and Johnson after an accident and arranged for a tow. However the car disappeared. 

Jan. 4 Aggravated assault. Woman claims man poured gasoline all over her 2nd floor bedroom floor on the 100 block of E. Sharpnack Street and told he’d light it on fire with her inside. The offender was arrested.

Jan. 4 Theft from auto. Woman parked her car on the 1000 block of Kitchens Lane. She returned to find her window smashed and items stolen. 

Jan. 4 Theft. Man had bicycle stolen on 7000 block of Germantown Avenue. 

Jan. 4 Aggravated assault. Complainant had finger lacerated on 6700 block of Musgrave Street by an offender swinging a knife at the complainant after an argument.

Jan. 7 Armed robbery. A man entered a retail store on the 6500 block of Greene Street with a gun and demanded cash from the register before fleeing the story. 

Jan. 8 Theft from auto. Man had the catalytic converter stolen off his car on the 300 block of E. Hortter Street.

Jan. 8 Theft. Delivery driver had car and money stolen from him while making a delivery on the 200 block of Garrett Street.

Jan. 8 Theft. An offender was observed on a surveillance camera stealing money from a purse inside of Caring Heart Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on the 6400 block of Germantown Avenue. 

Jan. 8 Theft from auto. Man discovered the windows were broken on his car with items stolen. The car was parked on the 200 block of E. Gowen Avenue.

Jan. 8 Aggravated assault. While picking up his daughter on the 6600 block of Blakemore Street, an offender, who was the boyfriend of his daughter’s mother, pointed a gun at him.

Jan. 8 Auto theft. A man started his car in his driveway, went back in his house and returned a few minutes later to find the car missing. Incident happened on the 100 block of W. Johnson Street.

Jan. 8 Theft. Woman had a gift card and cash stolen from her purse on the 200 block of E. Mt. Pleasant Ave. before engaging in a verbal and physical altercation with the offender.

Jan. 9 Theft. Woman came home to find her home, located on the 600 block of E. Cliveden Street, broken into and items stolen.

Jan. 9 Theft. Woman left a firearm in her vehicle parked on the 100 block of Meehan Avenue. When she returned, it was missing.
