Crime Report: 6 theft from auto, 2 assaults

The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the two-week period between July 19 to July 25. Some dates earlier than the current period took place at that date and reported after the fact.

Chestnut Hill

July 16 Theft from auto.  A woman returned to her car parked on the 8700 block of  Germantown Ave. to find the rear passenger window broken. A pocketbook was taken, containing a debit card and house keys, plus come clothing. Estimated value $400.

July 23 Agravated assault. A man was stabbed several times in the 30 block of W. Hampton Rd., transported to Chestnut Hill Hospital in critical condition. The assailant was arrested at the scene.

Mt. Airy

July 16 Theft. A trailer parked on the 900 block of E. Durham St. was stolen.

July 18 Aggravated assult.  A teenager reported she had been physically abused by her father in the 400 block of W. Durham St. She left home. Her father picked her up two days later, took her home and assaulted her again. She then left again and notified the police.

July 18 Theft from auto. Catalytic converter stolen overnight, 60 block of W. Allens Lane.

July 18 Theft from auto. After returning from Wissahickon Park, a woman discovered her car’s rear passenger window broken and property taken.

July 20 Burglary. A woman returned to her residence in the 600 block of E. Mount Airy to discover it ransacked. No sign of forced entry and nothing was taken.

July 21 Theft from auto.  A woman parked on the 60 block of Valley Green Road discovered left rear window of her car broken, wallet taken, valued at $35.00. She then discovered her friend’s right passenger window broken, wallet taken valued at $280.00.s

July 22 Theft from auto. A woman returned from hiking to find her car parked on the 60 block of Valley Green Rd to find her front passenger window broken. Items taken valued at $269 plus $1713.15 in fraudulent card charges.

July 22 Burglary, auto theft. House on the 600 block of W. Allens Lane entered, some items taken from the kitchen. The alarm was off. His car was stolen from the driveway.

July 23 Theft from auto. Catylytic converter stolen on the 600 block of W. Upsal St.

July 23 Theft from auto. A man returned to his car parked on the 60 block of Valley Green Road to discover driver-side window broken. Credit card, iPhone, ID, and $250 in cash were stolen.

July 24 Shoplifting. A man was reported taking 30 in merchandise from a supermarket on the 7000 block of Germantown Ave.

July 24 Theft. A woman stole $5 from a driver at a gas station at Germantown Ave. and Washington Lane.

July 24 Theft from auto. Passenger-side front window broken on a car parked at Hortter and Park Line Drive. A bag was taken containing a wallet and a purse, with credit cards and $80 in cash. A shirt valued at $40 was also taken.
