The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period between April 5 to April 11. Some dates earlier than the current period took place at that date and reported after the fact.
Chestnut Hill
April 10 Theft from vehicle at Valley Green. A woman left her car parked at Valley Green and returned to find her purse containing ID, credit cards and other valuables was missing. She was alerted that her debit card was used to buy gas at a nearby Sunoco. Value of stolen valuables was listed at $900.
Mt. Airy
April 5 Theft from vehicle, 100 block of Roumfort Rd. A man told police that someone broke the driver-side window of his Ford van, disabled its alarm and took assorted tools. Damage to the vehicle was estimated to be $500. Police were able to collect fingerprints during their investigation.
April 8 Stolen vehicle on the 300 block of E. Mt. Airy Ave. A woman reported her grey, 2016 Nissan Rogue was taken from the location where it was left overnight. The woman told police she was sure she had left the vehicle locked and secure. Vehicle is worth $16,000.
April 10 Theft from vehicle on the 300 block of E. Upsal St. A woman told police that she found her vehicle had been broken into and rummaged through. She couldn’t find evidence of anything taken but found a package in her car that did not belong to her, evidently left by whoever had broken into her car.
April 10 Theft from vehicle at W Upsal St. and Parkline Dr. A woman reported she left her car at the location and returned to find her passenger side window smashed and her purse stolen. Purse and valuables inside were estimated to be worth $900.
April 11 Retail theft from Acme at 7010 Germantown Ave. An Acme grocery store employee told police that two women took an unknown number of items from the store without paying. No other details were provided.
