The following report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from May 21-May 28.

Chestnut Hill

Nov. 28, 2022 Theft. A complainant in the 300 block of East Willow Grove Ave. reported that she received a delivery from a bank in South Africa and when she went to pick up the package, it was opened with labels that said it had been repackaged. Complainant said the package had a check in it for $2.4 million.

May 14: Aggravated assault. Complainant reported that a witness and ex-girlfriend of the alleged offender got into a verbal argument on the 7700 block of Crittenden Street. He pulled out a hand gun and pointed it at her, and then drove away in an unknown direction. 

May 23: Theft of motor vehicle parts. Complainant reports that he parked his car at Chestnut Hill Hospital, on the 8800 block of Germantown Avenue, and when he returned the catalytic converter was missing. 

May 24 Theft. A woman reported AirPods and a purse being stolen from her house during a family event on the unit block of East Highland Avenue. 

May 26 Theft. A bicycle was stolen from a yard on the 8000 block of Anderson Street.

May 27 Theft from motor vehicle. A woman reported her car window being broken while it was parked near the Wissahickon Trail entrance on East Northwestern Avenue. Cash and jewelry were stolen from the vehicle. 

May 29 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant said he parked his car in the 200 block of West Northwestern Avenue and when he returned his driver’s side windows were smashed in and jumper cables from the trunk were taken.

May 29  Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported that their car was parked on the 500 block of West Willow Grove Avenue and items, including a camera and wallet, were stolen.

May 29 Motor vehicle theft. Complainant said that the window of her car, which was parked at Chestnut Hill Academy in the 500 block of West Willow Grove Avenue, was smashed in. A backpack was taken and someone attempted to use her credit card.

Mt. Airy 

May 22: Motor vehicle theft. A woman reported that she parked her 2015 gold Toyota Camry at her home on the 6600 block of Sprague Street, and when she woke up in the morning it was gone. 

May 22: Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported that they parked their car on the 400 block of W. Sedgwick Street and when they returned it was gone. 

May 22: Burglary. A man reported that someone visited his apartment on the 6300 block of Greene Street and after he left, a hover board, a jacket and a laptop were missing. 

May 22: Motor vehicle theft. Complainant reported that their 2011 Silver Hyundai was missing from the 200 block of Meehan Avenue. 

May 22: Motor vehicle theft. Complainant reported that he was delivering Amazon packages on the 100 block of East Walnut Lane when someone wearing blue gloves got into his car and drove off. 

May 23 Theft. A woman reported having a package stolen from her front porch, which is located on the 300 block of Vernon Road.

May 23 Aggravated assault. A woman reported that she was pushed from behind on the unit block of East Duval Street by a man who proceeded to punch her in the face repeatedly. 

May 24 Motor vehicle theft. A woman reported her car being stolen by her sister from the 6600 block of Sprague Street. The car was later recovered.

May 24 Theft from motor vehicle. A man reported his firearm being stolen out of his vehicle while it was parked on the 200 block of Slocum Street.

May 24 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported their car going missing from the 800 block of East Sharpnack Street.

May 25 Robbery. A man had his iPhone stolen from him by a man who attacked him with a knife on the 6900 block of Anderson Street.

May 25 Theft from motor vehicle. A woman reported gift cards and snacks being stolen from her car while it was parked on the 200 block of Slocum Street.

May 26 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported their vehicle’s window being smashed while it was parked on the 600 block of West Cliveden Street. A wallet was stolen. 

May 27 Motor vehicle theft. A man reported his car going missing from the 1300 block of East Johnson Street.

May 27 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported a purse, and identification and credit cards were stolen from a car parked near West Hortter Street and Park Lane Drive.

May 28 Theft. Complainant in the 7800 block of Germantown Avenue said a phone and identification items were stolen.

May 28 Motor vehicle theft  Complainant said the rear passenger window and steering column of her car parked in the 100 block of Carpenter Lane were broken.

May 28 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported a vehicle stolen from the 800 block of East Upsal Street.

May 28 Motor vehicle theft Complainant said she left her vehicle unlocked on the unit block of Nippon Street and a clutch containing credit cards, a driver’s license and passport were taken. The cards were later used at various stores.

May 29 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported that the window of his vehicle parked in the 1000 block of West Hortter Street was smashed in and various items were taken.

May 29 Theft. An offender took items from the Acme supermarket in the 7000 block of Germantown without paying for them.

May 29 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported that a car parked near West Hortter Street and Park Line Drive was broken into with items including a purse stolen.

May 29 Motor vehicle theft. An offender broke into three vehicles parked near Park Line Drive and West Upsal Street and stole multiple items.
