The following report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from March 27 - April 2. 

Chestnut Hill

March 28 Pocket picking. A shopper at Weavers Way Co-op, located on the 8400 block of Germantown Avenue, reported her wallet being stolen from her backpack while shopping. Her bank card was later used at Wawa and Staples.

March 30 Shoplifting. A witness reported seeing multiple offenders enter Chestnut Hill Sports, located on the 8600 block of Germantown Avenue, and leave with merchandise they did not pay for. 

April 1 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A man reported the catalytic converter being stolen from his car, which was parked on the 200 block of East Willow Grove Avenue. 

April 1 Shoplifting. A witness observed a man enter the CVS, located on the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue, and leave with items he did not pay for. 

April 2 Pocket picking. A shopper at the Fresh Market, located on the 8200 block of Germantown Avenue, reported her wallet being stolen from her pocketbook while shopping. Her credit card was later used at a Rite Aid.

Mt. Airy 

March 27 Burglary. A contractor working on the unit block of East Sharpnack Street reported someone breaking into the property and stealing multiple tools valuing $1,200 total.

March 28 Shoplifting. A witness reported a male stealing items from a retail store on the 6500 block of Greene Street. 

March 28 Robber. A man walking his dog reported being assaulted at the corner of East Upsal and Musgrave Streets by an unknown man who proceeded to steal his dog.

March 29 Theft from motor vehicle. A man reported his car, which was parked on the 6900 block of Lincoln Drive, was broken into. Thieves stole the car radio, a cell phone and a debit card.

March 30 A patron at McMenamin’s Tavern, located on the 7100 block of Germantown Avenue, had his wallet stolen out of his coat which was hanging off his chair. The incident was caught on camera.

March 31 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported a male jumping into his running vehicle at the corner of Emlen and Phil Ellena Streets and stealing it while he was delivering a package.

April 2 Aggravated assault. A man reported being shot at on the unit block of West Sharpnack Street. The man then returned fire. No injuries occurred.
