After a hiatus due to the COVID, Councilmember Cindy Bass’s annual Summer Events Series kicked off last week, featuring a variety of fun, family-friendly events from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at locations throughout the 8th Councilmanic District.

Events, which are free and open to the public, will run through Aug. 31.

Through June, a line dance themed “Party in the Park” features free line dance lessons every Monday at Waterview Recreation Center, 5826 McMahon St. in Germantown.

On Tuesdays, “Oldies in the Park” fills the air at Jerome Brown Playground at 3401 N. 20th Street.

Beginning July 12, jazz, funk and soul arrive at Morris Estate Recreation Center, 1610 W. Chelten Ave. every Tuesday.

On July 13, “Oldies in the Park” lands at Vernon Park, 5800 Germantown Ave., and continues every Wednesday through August.

Capping off the series in August, Stenton Park Playground, 4600 N. 16th St., will be the venue for a ShowTime-themed event each Tuesday.
