Ann McNamara Scanlan

Ann McNamara Scanlan of Flourtown died suddenly on May 1 at Abington Hospital.

Ms. Scanlan had a lengthy career in Human Resources, notably as an executive with CIGNA, Kaiser Permanente, PECO and USF&G. Her contributions included leading change, improving operations and developing leadership talent.  She was a mentor and guide to many young professionals, especially women who were just starting their careers. After her corporate career, she continued to have a positive impact through her work as a consultant with a number of clients, including the school district of Philadelphia.
 
Retirement was short-lived as she found great satisfaction through work. She followed her passion for flowers by working at Botanical Expressions in Flourtown, PA. In later years, she worked as a companion for Waverly Care in Gladwyne, PA.
 
Raised in Chestnut Hill, Ms. Scanlan attended Our Mother of Consolation School and Little Flower High School for Girls. She was a graduate of Chestnut Hill College.
 
Ms. Scanlan is survived by daughters Sara, Laurie Barkhorn (Andrew), Amy Brueckner (John) and son Jack; grandchildren Harry, Grace, Mamie and Frank Fennimore and their father Patrick; a sister Peggy Cominsky, and many treasured nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters Mary, Grace and Trudy and by brothers Frank and Jerry. (services below)
 
Friends and relatives are invited to funeral services on Saturday, May 7 at Our Mother of Consolation Church, 9 E Chestnut Hill Avenue. Visitation at 10am before Mass. Interment will be private.
 
Memorial donations may be made to Little Flower High School for Girls.
