Mt. Airy Day, the annual festival celebrating the Northwest Philadelphia neighborhood scheduled for June 11, was canceled because of weather forecasts predicting rain and thunderstorms.
The decision by organizers follows a postponement of the festival last month also because of inclement weather on the weekend of May 7 when Mt. Airy Day was originally scheduled.
Organizers called the decision “difficult” in an announcement on the event website. “We will be applying this year’s efforts to 2023.”
This year’s event was to be a celebration of Mt. Airy Day’s 50th anniversary which had been postponed for two years because of COVID.
“We’ll celebrate the 50th next year,” East Mt. Airy Neighbors executive director Natalia Serejko said in an email to the Local.
