The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill from April 8 to April 14, 2019.
April 10. Theft from vehicle on Northwestern Avenue. A woman told police she parked her car on the unit block of West Northwestern Avenue at approximately 3 p.m. When she returned at 4 p.m., she discovered the passenger side window of her vehicle smashed and approximately $1,030 worth of property taken from her vehicle.
April 12. Bank robbery at Citizens Bank on the 8600 block of Germantown Avenue. An employee of the bank states that a man entered the bank, produced a silver handgun and stated, “I’m gonna need you to empty the drawers.” The employee placed $6,812 in cash on the counter. Then the man placed the money into a medium sized, brown purse.
While loading up the money, he said, “If you put a dye pack in, I’m gonna kill you.” Then the man exited the bank and fled on foot, northbound on Germantown Avenue.
The man was described as a 21 to 25-year-old black male, 5’9” with a thin build, dressed in a black burqa. Also, the man was wearing a diamond necklace. No injuries were reported. The FBI and police are searching for the suspect.
Summary: Two crimes for the week – one bank robbery and one theft from vehicle
