The Chestnut Hill Local won two 2019 Keystone Press Awards given out annually by the Pennsylvania News Association. This year, the Local competed in Division VII for weekly publications with a circulation under 5,000.

In the “Feature Story” category, Associate Editor Sue Ann Rybak won second place for her story, “From victim to victor: Life after childhood sexual abuse.” The article focuses on author Deborah Rose, her traumatic experience at 12 years old and attempts to move forward with her life, all of which are recounted in her book, “The Shadow in My Eyes.”

Contributing writer Elizabeth Coady was also awarded second place in the “General News – WEEKLIES ONLY” category for “Rizzo home sale draws thousands to Hill, more items found for future auction in January,” which recapped the massive sale of over 3,000 items from the home of former Philadelphia mayor Frank Rizzo.
