The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill from March 18 to March 24, 2019.
March 21. Bank robbery on the 8600 block of Germantown Avenue at approximately 4:30 p.m. According to the police report, a man approached the teller and told her “not to mess around” while holding up a semi-automatic gun in a plastic white shopping bag. The man was handed a bag with an undetermined amount of money. The man was last seen going southbound on Germantown Avenue.
March 24. Theft from vehicle on Valley Green Road and Wolcott Drive. A woman told police she went for a run in the park and sometime between 9:50 a.m. and 11:06 a.m. an unknown person smashed the window of her vehicle. The thief took one pair of sunglasses and $60 in cash.
March 24. Theft from vehicle on Valley Green Road on March 23 at approximately 1:30 p.m. A man told police that an unknown person entered his vehicle and stole items from glove compartment. The man told police he discovered that a unauthorized charge of $881 was made to his DISCOVER credit card.
Summary: Three crimes for the week – one armed bank robbery and two thefts from vehicles
