A Masqued Black and White Gala 2018

What a night! We had hoped to match the success of last year’s Black and White Gala, but it seems that we surpassed it! Yes, it was a brilliant evening and the huge white tent was decorated with hundreds of black and white balloons, the tables were decorated with a variety of white vases filled with white roses and feathers and there were also arrangements with twinkle lights and gold beads. Fresh Market graciously donated all arrangements. The atmosphere was magical!

Add the fine food prepared and served by Chef Jason Childress and his staff, all from the Chestnut Hill Hospital, the array of masques worn by guests, and the fabulous music provided by the Rich Posmontier Ensemble, and throw in some 300 attendees and there was not a chance that the event would not be a success.

The gala benefited the Chestnut Hill Community Association, a non-profit organization with an all-volunteer board of directors. The proceeds from the event allows us to continue our work advocating for the community with the City of Philadelphia and continue to hold great community events like Pastorius Park Concerts, August Movie Nights, the Holiday Parade, and the Circle of Trees Holiday Gathering.

We were fortunate to have Chip and Phyllis Marshall and Pia and Steve Druggan as Honorary Chairs.

Our sponsors were many and generous, and we thank them. Chestnut Hill Hospital was our Presenting Sponsor and Bowman Properties our Platinum Sponsor. Gold sponsors were Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, and Stevens and Lee.

Additional sponsors included: American Heritage Federal Credit Union, Bone Appetite, Chip and Phyllis Marshall, Elfant Wissahickon, Guidi Homes, Kurfiss Sotheby’s, Jerry and Helene Levine, Lamb Squad, Merrill Lynch, One West, Pepper Hamilton, Reilly, McDevitt & Henrich PC, Sivel Group and YourMercedes.com.

Thanks also to our In-Kind sponsors: Chestnut Hill Brewery, Chestnut Hill Local our Media Sponsor, Eight Oaks, Fresh Market, Spice Rack, Swig, Weavers Way, Woodmere Art Museum and The Yellow Mirror.

The Black and White Committee worked long and hard for months and on the day of the event, setting up tables, placing balloons, and generally preparing for the Gala for several hours! Thank you to my fellow committee members: Ania Borejsza-Wysocka, Cathy Brzozowski, Kate Cacciamani, Pia Druggan, Janet Gala, Fred Holzerman, Laura Lucas, Anne McNiff, Andrea Nash, Kerry Noone, Chris Padova, Dan Pulka, Joanne Santangelo, Bill Valerio, Susie Valinis and Jean Wedgwood.

Stay tuned for news of Black and White 2019.
