Crime Report, July 26: Eight thefts from vehicles

The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill from July 16 to July 22, 2018.

July 17. Theft from vehicle on the 400 block of West Willow Grove Avenue at approximately 12 p.m. The owner of the vehicle told police that an unknown person stole batteries from two tractors and three golf carts parked outside. Taken were five outdoor equipment batteries valued at $600.

July 19. Theft from vehicle on the 8100 block of Devon Street. A woman told police that between 6 p.m. on July 18 and 1:30 p.m. on July 19, an unknown person rummaged through the inside of her unlocked vehicle. Taken was a coin purse containing $6 in assorted change.

July 20. Theft from vehicle on the until block of Bells Mills Road on July 19 at approximately 10:30 p.m. A man told police that he parked his vehicle and left it unlocked. When he returned, he noticed that one pair of sunglasses, $20 and unknown amount of loose coins were missing. The items are valued at $100.

July 20. Four thefts from vehicle on the unit block of East Benezet Street at approximately 6:30 a.m. Police responded multiple vehicle break-ins.  Report 1: A woman told police that someone had entered her vehicle and ransacked it. Nothing appeared to be missing. Report 2: A man told police that an unknown person ransacked his vehicle. The vehicle was left unlocked. Nothing appeared to be missing. Report 3. A man told police that an unknown person broke into his vehicle and took one pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses valued at $180. Report 4: A man told police that he found the following missing rom his vehicle: one black wallet containing one driver’s license, various credit cards, $50 in cash, one Steel Fossil Wrist Watch valued at $130.

July 20. Theft from vehicle on the 100 block of Hillcrest Avenue at approximately 11 p.m. A woman told police that between 11 p.m. on July 19 and 6:30 a.m. on July 20, an unknown person rummaged through her vehicle that was left unlocked. Loose change and cash totaling $15 were removed from the vehicle.
