Crime Report: One burglary and three thefts

The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill from Jan. 22 to Jan. 28, 2018.

Jan. 22. Theft on the 8600 block of Germantown Avenue at approximately 8:59 p.m. Police were called to the Citizen’s Bank for a theft in process. Police observed a man attempting to leave. Police also observed a piece of tape that was on the ATM machine and a piece of plastic on the floor. The man was frisked, and police removed several tools from the male’s pockets including camera/skimming devices.

Jan. 25. Burglary on the 7700 block of Cresheim Road. A man told police that he went out of town on Jan. 23 at 1 p.m. When he returned on Jan. 25 at 7 p.m., he observed the glass broken out of a rear door in the sunroom and the following items were reported missing: 50” inch Samsung TV ($800), Apple TV ($500), Mr./Mrs. Smith Statue ($450), Porcelain statue ($990), Fender Stratocaster Electric Guitar ($500), Roman Catholic H.S. ring engraved E.D. ($150), $200 in cash and three bottles of Tequila ($150). The total value of the items taken is $3,740.

Jan. 26. Theft from the 8000 block of Germantown Avenue at approximately 1:46 p.m. The owner of the store told police that a woman came in that she recognized from a theft that occurred on Aug. 23, 2017. The offender had taken $392 worth of items into the fitting room. The items were later discovered missing after the offender left the store. On Jan. 25, the offender, (who is under 18 years old) concealed a pair of yoga pants under a pair of yoga pants that the owner believes were taken on Aug. 23, 2017. The pants are valued at $110.

Jan. 27. Theft on the 7800 block of Germantown Avenue at approximately 2:45 p.m. A woman told police she left her wallet on the counter after ordering her food. When she came back a short time later, the wallet was gone. The woman told police she spoke to the employees, who told her they don’t have access to the cameras. Taken was one beige wallet containing 2 Visa credit cards, 1 Mastercard, 1 Master/Debit card, 1 Driver’s license and $12 in cash.
