Crime Report July 20: One robbery and three thefts

The following crime report is for crimes in Chestnut Hill from July 9 to July 15, 2017.

July 11. Theft at approximately 8:30 p.m. on July 4 on the 7700 block of Crittenden Street. A woman told police she went into the bathroom in the store and put down her purse and cane. A moment later, she fell and hurt her head. Disoriented, she left the store. When she returned later to retrieve the purse, it was gone. The woman told police after she discovered her purse missing, she was transported to Chestnut Hill Hospital. Taken was a purse containing $20.

July 14. Theft at approximately 10:30 a.m. on the 8400 block of Germantown Avenue. The manager of the Jos. A Bank store told police that an unknown man came into the store and took one tan golf jacket, one black raincoat, and one blue polo shirt without paying. The manager said the man put the items inside his jacket and ran out of the store in an unknown direction.

July 14. Theft at approximately 10 a.m. on the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue. A customer was inside Staples and made a purchase at register 31 at approximately 9:55 a.m. The customer accidentally left his wallet on the counter. An unknown man made a purchase at the same register at 10 a.m. and is seen on store video picking up the customer's wallet. The unknown man left the store heading northbound on the sidewalk. The store video and a copy of the unknown man's transaction was submitted to Northwest Detectives.

July 15. Robbery at approximately 10:30 a.m. on the 8500 block of Germantown Avenue. A woman told police an unknown man pushed her down on the ground and attempted to take her handbag. However, the man was unable to get her bag. He then fled southbound on Germantown Avenue. The woman was transported to Chestnut Hill Hospital by Medic #10. The security camera in the area could not be accessed at the time.
