Edith H. Glassman, 93, formerly of Erdenheim, a longtime community volunteer, died May 8 at Temple University Hospital. She had been living for the past eight years at Cathedral Village in the Andorra section of Philadelphia.

Mrs. Glassman had been a volunteer for many years at the Bird in Hand consignment shop in Chestnut Hill. Her interest in art led to her selection as a participant in the Barnes Foundation education program in the 1980s.

She was a collector of antiques both for her own enjoyment as well as for family members and friends. She played the piano, was an enthusiastic concert goer and an active gardener.

Mrs. Glassman is survived by a daughter, Carol Doherty, of Maryland; a son, Edward G., of Toronto; and two grandchildren. Her husband of 59 years, Irving Glassman, preceded her in death.

There will be a private family gathering.
