The Philadelphia Area Tennis District of the USTA named LOCAL sportswriter Tom Utescher "Media of the Year" for 2016. At the PATD Awards brunch on March 19 in Lafayette Hill, the organization's High School Coach of the Year award went to Rose Weinstein, coach of the undefeated Inter-Ac League champion varsity girls of Penn Charter. Germantown Friends junior Helen Ruger received the sportsmanship award in the Girls' 18's category, and her freshman brother, Henry, was named the most improved player in the Boys' 16's.
