Chestnut Hill Community Association is hosting a free night of movies every Friday evening in August. The next film, “Zootopia,” will be shown this Friday night.
The Association will set up a big screen and show popular films on the lawn of the Water Tower Recreation Center. Everyone is welcome. Lawn chairs, blankets and other picnicking supplies are encouraged.
CHCA members can visit at the membership tent to pick up their free bag of popcorn and a drink. Each week the event will start at 7 p.m., by having an excellent, well-known Philadelphia food truck set up to sell delicious treats, entrees, beverages and sandwiches. The film begins after dinner at 8 p.m.
The food truck on hand will be Prime Stache, An American style bistro, specializing in well-prepared comfort food. Examples include the Ron Burgundy-pulled pork, roast pork, pork belly, apple cider barbecue sauce, homemade chipotle coleslaw, American cheese, long Amoroso roll; and Fish Tacos-cajun spiced tilapia, homemade chipotle coleslaw, flour tortilla (3 per order).
Next week, on August 26, the film series will feature the newest Star Wars movie, “The Force Awakens” (2015) rated PG-13.
The Water Tower Recreation Center is located at 200 East Hartwell Lane, Philadelphia, PA 19118 If it rains the film will be show at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, 8000 Cherokee St.
The Association is offering a special on membership at each showing. Anyone who joins the Chestnut Hill Community Association a the even can do so for $40, a 20% discount on membership, which includes a subscription to the Chestnut Hill Local and 10% off at participating businesses.
