The Philadelphia Water Department will soon be making repairs in Wissahickon Valley Park that are likely to disrupt pedestrian activity.

There will be infrastructure repairs below the upper parking lot along Valley Green Road for about 12 weeks. Pedestrians are warned that the temporary stairwell will be closed and pedestrians must walk on the road in order to enter the lower part of the park.

The Valley Green Inn area also will be the focus of an emergency sewer relining project. The area of repair will extending from approximately 500 yards downstream to 500 yards upstream from the inn. This project will take about 60 days to complete, and in that time pedestrian access to Forbidden Drive and the parking lot along Forbidden Drive and Valley Green Road may be disrupted during short periods.

Pedestrians, bikers, and other nature enthusiasts are reminded to stay safe in the park and on the trails and to be flexible when encountering the construction projects.
