The board of the Chestnut Hill Community Association welcomed two new members, approved two Community Fund trustees, and elected six officers and five at-large members of the executive committee at its May 26 meeting.

Laura Lucas, the new president of the CHCA, said that she wanted to thank the four members who were leaving the board. Those members are: Julie Byrne, Lisa Howe, Mark Keintz and Brien Tilley.

Lucas then congratulated and welcomed two new members to the board: Gregory Burns and Mike Chomentowski, a previous member of the board. Their terms end in 2019.

Six members were returning to the board, whose terms also end in 2019. They are: Joyce Lenhardt, Laura Lucas, Karl Martin, Larry McEwen, Arianna Neromiliotis and Dan Pulka.

Ryan Rosenbaum, executive director of the CHCA, then introduced a slate of six officers and five at-large members of the executive committee who were recommended by the Nominating Committee. The officers who were running for their respective positions are listed as follows:

  • President -- Laura Lucas

  • Vice president for operations — Dan Pulka

  • Interim Vice president for the physical division — Bob Rossman

  • Vice president for the social division — Marilyn Paucker

  • Secretary — Jean Wedgwood

  • Treasurer — Tony Reilly

The five at-large members of the executive committee are:

  • George Coates

  • Sam Earle

  • Andy Kite

  • Jack McMeekin

  • Richard Snowden

The slate was approved with a unanimous vote.

Lucas then put forth a motion to approve two Fund Trustees for the Chestnut Hill Community Fund whose terms expire in 2019. Andrew Glendinning was recommended as the fund trustee position by Moss Disston, who is retiring after 10 years. Charles Marion, who previously served a term on the Chestnut Hill Community Fund, was proposed to succeed Jean Hemphill as the president of the CHCF.

Glendinning and Marion were approved with a unanimous vote.

Lucas said that everyone, both past and new board members, have volunteered because of their “great love of Chestnut Hill.”

“Everybody here is working to improve their community,” Lucas said. “We are all stewards of this community, just like the people before us, and after we leave, there will be people behind us.

“The work that we do in this community is important. We have constituents and fellow members of the community that are looking to us for our leadership, looking for us to get things done, and they see the value in the Chestnut Hill Community Association. And I would like to keep that spirit going all year long.”
